The AEJMC History Division will again be offering its mentorship program and we are seeking participants. Prior mentors and mentees have found the program highly beneficial, with many members choosing to continue their relationships informally after the mentoring project has ended. The program is loosely structured and allows for flexibility. It is up to the mentee and mentor to determine what works best for them.

The relationship can take on several options. If you are looking for help with your teaching (such as assignment ideas, classroom management tips, new class prep), research (such as what journals/conferences to target, feedback on a potential journal/conference submission), or career (such as tenure & promotion advice, job search questions, creating work/life balance), sign up as a mentee. If you are a graduate student, assistant professor, associate professor, or other position, our division’s mentorship program is available to you.

The program also needs willing mentors at all levels to provide guidance and support to the mentees. Both the mentor and mentees will receive official letters for their participation to be used in promotion packets or annual reports.

To participate as a mentor or mentee, you must be a current member of the History Division or be willing to join the division when you renew your AEJMC membership. Pairings will be notified via email by December 10. The program officially kicks off in August at the AEJMC conference. Mentors/mentees attending the conference are encouraged to meet up at the History Division Gala or at another time that works for their schedules.
